HARDWOOD FLOORING INSPECTOR

Description:  Hardwood Flooring Inspection Course

This is an in-depth three-day course that will train future inspectors to become professionally qualified to inspect hardwood floors. Upon completion of this course, the inspector will have gained the necessary knowledge and skills needed to appropriately gather the information required to not only determine the cause of most hardwood flooring failures but to also support their conclusion in a written report.

This course provides hands-on training from highly qualified instructors and will cover product understanding, installation methods, proper moisture testing, substrate preparation, maintenance, identification of common issues, inspection tools, and report writing.

Course Duration: 3 days 

Course Fee: $1,500 

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum of 3 years in the flooring business
  • Completion of the virtual Report Writing class
  • Completion of the virtual Substrate class (if not previously taken) or ITS Substrate/Subfloor & Moisture Testing class

Requirements:

  • Current with annual dues
  • Continuing Education (e.g. through a recognized or approved program) – equal to 1-1/2 days (or 12 hours) of any course related to a discipline in which you are certified in.
  • Signed “Code of Conduct” on file

 

ADVANCED HARDWOOD FLOORING INSPECTOR

Description:  Advanced Hardwood Flooring Inspection & Wood Science Course

This is a comprehensive two-day course that will allow existing hardwood inspectors to gain additional confidence through a better understanding of wood science and an improved level of inspecting techniques.

This course is taught by industry-leading practicing inspectors. Upon completion of this course, students will leave with a better understanding of wood science and advanced inspecting techniques. This course

includes hands-on visuals, inspection panels, commercial inspections and some great trade secrets!

Course Duration: 2 days

Course Fee: $900 

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of the ITS hardwood certification (and being in good standing)
  • Minimum of 5 years in the flooring business
  • Completion of the virtual Report Writing class (if not previously taken)
  • Completion of the virtual Substrate class (if not previously taken) or ITS Substrate/Subfloor & Moisture Testing class

Requirements:

  • Current with annual dues
  • Continuing Education (e.g. through a recognized or approved program) – equal to 1-1/2 days (or 12 hours) of any course related to a discipline in which you are certified in.
  • Signed “Code of Conduct” on file
LVT/LVP & RESILIENT FLOORING INSPECTOR

Description: LVT/LVP & Residential Resilient Flooring Inspection Course

This is an in-depth two-day course that will train future inspectors to become professionally qualified to inspect LVT/LVP (Solid Vinyl, WPC, SPC, mineral core, etc.) resilient floors. This course also offers a basic understanding of residential sheet vinyl inspection techniques.

Upon completion of this course, the inspector will have gained the knowledge and skills needed to appropriately gather the information required to not only determine the cause of most resilient flooring failures, but to also support their conclusion in a written report.

This course provides hands-on training from highly qualified instructors and will cover product understanding, installation methods, proper moisture testing, substrate preparation, maintenance, identification of common issues, inspection tools, and report writing.

Description: Commercial Resilient Tile & Sheet Flooring Inspection Course

This one-day course will train and qualify existing inspectors to inspect commercial resilient tile and resilient sheet products. This course will also provide an understanding of heat welding, linoleum, and rubber flooring.

Upon completion of this course, the inspector will have gained the knowledge and the skills needed to appropriately gather the information required to not only determine the cause of most commercial resilient flooring failures, but to also support their conclusion in a written report.

This course provides hands-on training from highly qualified instructors and will cover product understanding, installation methods, proper moisture testing, substrate preparation, maintenance, identification of common issues, inspection tools, and report writing.

LAMINATE FLOORING INSPECTOR

Description: Laminate Flooring Inspection Course

This is a one-day course that will train future inspectors to become professionally qualified to inspect laminate floors. Upon completion of this course, the inspector will have gained the knowledge and the skills needed to appropriately gather the information required to not only determine the cause of most laminate flooring failures, but to also support their conclusion in a written report.

This course provides hands-on training from highly qualified instructors and will cover product understanding (including the various locking systems), installation methods, proper moisture testing, substrate preparation, identification of common issues, inspection tools, and report writing. This class will also review noise and water warranties.

Course Duration: 1 day

Description: Residential Carpet Inspection Course

The in-person portion of the Carpet Inspector training course provides an in-depth 3-day hands-on training experience with hundreds of samples for review. Learn how to identify: manufacturing-related defects, installation-related damages, seam construction issues, and inspection techniques depending on the seam construction method.

This class will also review performance-related concerns, cleaning, maintenance-related damages, etc.

This class will further include the proper use of inspection tools, including UV long-wave black lights, moisture meters, inspection lights, shadow box, grooming tools, and other tools of the trade.

Course Duration: 3 days

  • Completion of any video and reading assignments prior to the in-person portion of the course.

ADVANCED/COMMERCIAL CARPET INSPECTOR
 

Description: Understanding the different types of Commercial Carpet products, backing systems, installation methods, and inspection procedures. 

A 1-day hands-on training experience that includes reviewing samples while learning the inspection procedures using the tools of the trade, as performed in the field.  This course will also include:

  • Hands-on training related to measuring pattern elongation, bow, skew, and trueness of edges of pattern products.
  • Carpet tiles, backings, and the applicable inspection procedures.

Learn how to identify: manufacturing-related defects, installation-related damages, seam construction, inspection techniques, performance-related concerns, and cleaning/maintenance-related issues.

Course Duration: 1 day

SUBFLOOR/SUBSTRATE & MOISTURE TESTING

Description:

Description: An introduction to subfloor/substrate requirements related to floor covering installations and inspections including type, flatness, acceptability, moisture content and surface contaminants. This class will cover ASTM F710, ASTM F1869, ASTM F2170, and ASTM F2659.

This course also covers moisture testing requirements and provides a hands-on competency assessment of how to perform subfloor moisture testing.

This class includes applicable ANSI moisture testing standards (Approx. $280+ Value).

Course Duration: 2 days

Course Fee: $1,100 (includes copies of the needed ASTM standards)
